The 22 WRF cartridge predates the more common 22 WMR and is specifically designed for rifles and pistols chambered for this rare caliber. Its design offers reduced recoil while providing sufficient stopping power, making it an optimal choice for shooters looking for controllable and effective ammunition. Perfect for a variety of settings, from competitive plinking matches to quiet afternoon hunts, this cartridge meets a niche demand within the shooting community.

History and Development

Introduced in the late 19th century, the 22 Winchester Rimfire (WRF) was developed to improve upon the 22 Long Rifle by offering a larger bullet diameter and increased powder capacity. This made it appealing for small game hunting, providing greater impact at longer distances. CCI, a leader in rimfire ammunition, has refined the production and accuracy of this caliber, ensuring that each round performs consistently with modern performance standards. Its development has led to a devoted following among enthusiasts of classic firearms and those who appreciate the history tied to the 22 WRF.
