Rated 4.89 out of 5 across over 248 verified reviews and growing, this Federal Law Enforcement 12 Gauge ammo pairs a rifled slug with 1300 fps muzzle velocity for shooters who want Federal low recoil slugs with TruBall design. Built around Federal Premium Law Enforcement 12 Gauge performance, this load is intended for tactical use, big game applications, and defensive roles where a controlled slug option matters.

Why Shooters Choose Federal 12 Gauge

• Low-recoil TruBall design: The Federal TruBall slug system uses a plastic ball between the wad and slug to help center the projectile in smoothbore barrels. That design supports cleaner component separation after muzzle exit.
• Rifled slug construction: As a Federal rifled slug, this load is built for direct slug impact rather than pellet spread. Slug bullets are commonly chosen when a 12 Gauge shooter wants a solid projectile from a shotgun.
• Law enforcement lineup: This Federal LE load is part of the Federal Premium Law Enforcement 12 Gauge slug family. It is designed for tactical use and also suits big game applications as stated by Federal.
• Smoothbore performance focus: Federal states the TruBall system improves smoothbore performance by centering and pushing the rifled slug through the barrel. That makes these Federal LE slugs a practical choice for shotguns set up for slug use.
• Verified velocity: The listed muzzle velocity is 1300 fps, giving shoppers a clear baseline for comparing Federal 12 Gauge slug options.
• Practical packaging: Available as Box of 5 / Case of 250, this load works for testing, confirming function, or buying bulk ammo by the case.

What Customers Say

Customers rate this load 4.89 out of 5 across over 248 verified reviews and growing, including over 229 5-star reviews and growing.

TSUSA has cheap prices and great products. An accurate, great performer in pump shotguns, but the Deep Penetrator or other full-power slugs should be used in gas operated shotguns. My 11-87 failed to cycle two of five of these low recoil TruBalls.

Ralph L.

Recoil is much more manageable compared to standard loads. It even cycles reliably in my semi-auto shotgun, but I'd still recommend that you test out one or two boxes first before placing a bulk order.

Gregory C.

Federal Law Enforcement 12 Gauge Ammo works with my Browning A5 and surprisingly my gun cycled with no jams. As for the smoke it makes it not that bad. The kick is also low just as described

Harrison C.

What makes this a Federal low recoil slug?

Customer Q&A notes that the main difference from a regular hunting TruBall slug appears to be the low recoil configuration. That makes it a useful option for shooters comparing Federal low recoil slugs for tactical, defensive, or practice use.

Is this the same as Federal TruBall slugs for hunting?

It shares the TruBall rifled slug design, including the plastic ball between the wad and slug. The available product answer says the main difference appears to be low recoil, though exact product-line differences can be hard to confirm because the SKU was removed from Federal’s site.

Will these Federal LE slugs work in smoothbore shotguns?

Federal describes the TruBall system as designed to enhance smoothbore slug performance. The system helps center the slug and supports clean separation after muzzle exit.

How is this Federal Premium Law Enforcement 12 Gauge slug packaged?

About Federal 12 Gauge

Federal Premium TruBall rifled slug ammunition is built to improve how a slug behaves in smoothbore shotguns. The system keeps the wad, ball, and slug aligned as they move down the bore, then promotes clean separation after muzzle exit so the slug can continue on a stable path.

This Federal Law Enforcement slug is a low recoil slug option for shooters who want manageable 12 Gauge performance while staying within a duty-oriented lineup. Federal states it is designed for tactical and big game use, and Target Sports USA customer questions also point to defensive use as an appropriate role for this load.

If you are comparing 12 Gauge slug loads in the Federal lineup, this Law Enforcement TruBall option offers a low recoil rifled slug with case availability for training, duty preparation, or keeping a consistent load on hand. Choose the box or case option when you want Federal bulk ammo for your shotgun.
