Why Shooters Choose Federal 22 LR

• Defensive Rimfire Design: Federal describes Punch as a self-defense round developed around the 22 LR cartridge, giving Federal 22 ammo a defensive option for compatible rimfire handguns.
• Short-Barrel Focus: The 29 grain bullet weight is intended by Federal to support increased velocity in short-barreled 22 revolvers and pistols.
• Flat Nose Profile: A Flat Nose bullet generally presents a broad frontal surface, and Federal states this design helps maximize surface area for penetration.
• Nickel-Plated Jacket: The heavy nickel-plated jacket protects the lead core and supports the deep, consistent penetration Federal designed this load to deliver.
• Nickel Plated Brass Case: The nickel casing is stated to reduce corrosion and improve extraction, useful for defensive Federal 22 LR ammo kept ready.
• Verified Ballistics: This load is listed at 1080 fps with 75 ft lbs of muzzle energy, giving shoppers the core performance specs without guesswork.
• Box or Case Packaging: Packaging is listed as Box of 50 / Case of 5000, so buyers can choose a smaller box or a case quantity.

What Customers Say

Customers rate this load 4.72 out of 5 across over 437 verified reviews and growing, with over 359 5-star ratings and growing.

I only tested this in my beretta 21A with a suppressor barrel. It functioned fine both with and without a suppressor. I was only shooting for function and enough accuracy to be able to hit a 6” circle at 3 yards. That wasn’t a problem with this ammo.

Michael B.

Probably my favorite 22lr very fast flat nosed bullet deep penetration, I use these in my edc with full confidence after testing in a few guns long and short barrel over 1000 f/s in my bobcat cycles perfectly too

John P.

Well I had to try it....and was impressed....would be for 22ers that want to carry...No-one likes to leak.....^) I think Stingers are a little more effective....but this is a good Option....Carry On.....^)

About Federal 22 LR

The Punch design centers on a 29 grain Flat Nose bullet with a heavy nickel-plated jacket over a lead core. Federal built this Federal 22 LR ammo to promote velocity from short barrels while maintaining the penetration focus expected from a defensive handgun load.

As 22 LR ammunition, it uses rimfire priming and offers mild recoil compared with larger defensive handgun categories. The nickel plated brass case is intended to reduce corrosion and improve extraction, making this 22 Long Rifle ammo from Federal relevant for shooters who want a compact rimfire defensive load rather than general plinking ammunition.

For shoppers building out their 22 LR category choices, this Federal load adds a defensive rimfire option alongside range-focused selections in the Federal lineup. Select the box for evaluation or the case when you want bulk ammo for consistent practice, function checks, and keeping the same load on hand.
