History and Development

HEVI-Shot has been a leader in high-density shotshell innovation since its founding in 2000, consistently raising performance standards for hunters. The HEVI-18 TSS line represents the pinnacle of that innovation, utilizing Tungsten Super Shot with a density of 18 g/cc, far exceeding traditional lead. This specific 12 gauge 3 1/2 inch #9 load was developed to meet the needs of hunters seeking the tightest possible patterns and longest effective range available from a shotgun. By combining extreme pellet counts with advanced wad and buffering systems, HEVI-Shot created a load that delivers unmatched consistency, penetration, and lethality for serious turkey hunters.

Common Questions and FAQs

• Why choose a #9 TSS load for turkey hunting?
#9 TSS provides an extremely high pellet count while still penetrating like a much larger lead shot, resulting in denser patterns and a higher margin for error.
• Is this load effective beyond 50 yards?
Yes. The ultra-dense 18 g/cc tungsten retains lethal energy well past traditional lead ranges, making this load effective at extended distances with proper choke selection.
• Can I use this ammo in any 12 gauge shotgun?
This ammunition is designed for 12 gauge shotguns chambered for 3 1/2 inch shells. Always verify your firearm and choke are rated for tungsten-based loads.
• Is HEVI-18 TSS safe in lead-restricted hunting areas?
Yes. Tungsten Super Shot is non-toxic and approved for use in areas where lead ammunition is restricted.
• What choke works best with #9 TSS loads?
Most hunters prefer a tight turkey choke specifically designed for TSS or tungsten loads, but pattern testing your specific setup is strongly recommended.
• Does Target Sports USA offer free shipping on this ammo?
Yes. Bulk purchases of HEVI-Shot HEVI-18 TSS qualify for free shipping at Target Sports USA, making it easy to stock up before turkey season.
