History and Development

Remington has long been a trusted name in the ammunition industry, with Core-Lokt ammunition standing as one of its most iconic product lines. Introduced in 1939, Core-Lokt is recognized as the original controlled expansion bullet, earning its reputation as “the deadliest mushroom in the woods” thanks to decades of proven field success.

The 300 Remington Short Action Ultra Magnum (SAUM) was introduced in the early 2000s as part of Remington’s effort to develop high-performance short magnum cartridges. Designed to deliver magnum-level ballistics in a more compact case, the 300 SAUM provides hunters with efficient powder burn, excellent accuracy, and reduced rifle weight compared to full-length magnums. When paired with the Core-Lokt 165 Grain Soft Point, it balances high velocity, reliable energy transfer, and controlled expansion for effective big game hunting across diverse conditions.
