History and Development

Rio has a long-standing history in ammunition manufacturing, with origins tied to the Sociedad Española de la Dinamita (SED), founded in 1872 in Spain. Over time, the company developed into a producer of cartridges for hunting and sport shooting applications. Rio emphasizes integrated manufacturing, maintaining control over key components including hulls, primers, powders, wads, and shot. The Star Team line was developed with input from experienced shooters to support clay target disciplines such as trap, skeet, and sporting clays.
