Underwood Xtreme Defender 9mm Luger +P Ammo 90 Grain Solid Monolithic - 816

Underwood Xtreme Defender 9mm Luger +P Ammunition 90 Grain Solid Monolithic - 816

The Underwood Xtreme Defender 9mm Luger +P Ammunition 90 Grain is a high-performance round developed for self-defense purposes, combining innovative design features to optimize penetration and wound channels. Rooted in the legacy of the popular Xtreme Penetrator line, the Xtreme Defender leverages an advanced nose flute and solid copper body to penetrate up to 18 inches, creating a permanent wound cavity (PWC) significantly larger than any other expanding bullet. This advanced ammunition maintains its effectiveness even after puncturing barriers like wallboard and automotive glass, thanks to its durable construction. Nickel-plated brass casings enhance feeding efficiency and corrosion resistance, making it a reliable choice for both immediate and long-term use. The use of flash-suppressed powder reduces visibility compromise in low-light situations, while compatibility with real-world firearms ensures dependable performance in various environments.

Deep Dive

Overview

This ammunition is meticulously engineered for self-defense use. The solid monolithic design ensures enhanced barrier penetration without the risk of over-expansion and fragmentation typical of traditional hollow points. With law enforcement and personal defense in mind, the Xtreme Defender's impressive penetration and wound channel capabilities offer the stopping power necessary to neutralize threats efficiently. The inclusion of nickel-plated brass not only provides corrosion resistance but also ensures it functions smoothly in semi-automatic handguns prone to jamming with lesser ammunition. Its versatility in defense applications is further enhanced by its ability to consistently perform, regardless of encountered barriers.

History and Development

The Xtreme Defender line is an evolution of the groundbreaking Xtreme Penetrator series, reflecting ongoing innovation in ammunition technology by Underwood Ammo. Seeking to combine maximum penetration with a large wound cavity, the developers integrated advanced nose flute technology and refined the weight and velocity to meet stringent FBI guidelines for penetration. This ammunition addresses the common shortfalls of conventional designs that fail to expand reliably through barriers. By promoting enhanced ballistic performance, Underwood Ammo has created a product that meets the diverse needs of modern firearm enthusiasts who prioritize reliable self-defense options.
